To the majority, getting ripped abs fast means spending lots of hours in the gym doing thousands upon thousands of crunches amongst other exercises. False! It is true that exercise is crucial in getting ripped and without which, having a six-pack would remain to be a pipe dream. However, there are other components which are equally important if you are looking to get them more toned. They include the following:
Get enough proteins
Proteins will help you burn body fats and build lean muscles. Proteins are powerful if you want because they have higher thermogenic effects on your body compared to either carbs or fats. This is why athletes and professional bodybuilders are always raving about diets rich in lean proteins.
Consider using post workout carbs
Many people bought into the myth that eating carbohydrates will lead to weight gain if you are looking to build abs, partially due to the Atkins crave. As a result, carbs have gotten a bad rap. Of course you will gain weight if you don’t watch the types of carbs consume, but eating them alone won’t necessarily make you “fat”. And note that over-consumption of any food can make you gain weight.
It’s highly recommended that you take starchy or natural grain carbs, especially after workouts. Eating carbs such as brown rice, sweet potatoes and oatmeal in this manner will reduce their chances of being converted into fats, leading to weight gain instead of lean abs.
Avoid thousands of crunches
Rather than spending hours doing sit ups and thousands of crunches, focus on compound, total body, multi joint workouts that’ll encourage total fat loss and let those abs shine through- remember, less fat, more definition!
